The Role
The ideal candidate will possess: (1) experience leading sourcing and procurement in a food or CPG company of appropriate size, structure, and complexity; (2) functional depth in modern sourcing and procurement techniques; (3) a track record of delivering distinctive financial results through supplier partnerships that drive end-to-end cost reduction; and (4) interpersonal skills to build support, influence action, and drive culture change regarding the relevance and value of the procurement function.
Experience & Requirements
Functional Leadership. Provide overall leadership to the procurement function, including: strategy development and implementation; operating plans and budgets; policies, procedures, metrics, and systems; and communications with executive leadership. Work with internal business partners to create and drive standardization and simplification initiatives that improve service, costs, and provides a competitive advantage.
Category Planning & Strategic Sourcing. Prioritize and execute an evolving portfolio of sourcing initiatives to drive value/savings and support the objectives of the organization. Develop the high level spend analysis (spend cube) and procurement plan for the organization to improve the consistency of purchasing processes across sites. Structure analysis of spend to enable informed decision-making with stakeholders. Partner with internal sales, marketing, and distribution groups and with suppliers to develop specifications and requirements that meet customers’ needs while optimizing costs.
Contract Management. Lead negotiations and implementation of contractual agreements in partnership with internal and external partners. Manage business and supply risks with appropriate legal terms and conditions and ensure compliance with approved contract structures.
Supplier Management & Market Innovation. Establish and manage suppliers, ensuring supply reliability and continuity, price stability, price predictability, innovation, and identification of alternative sources. Build partnerships and programs with supply base to drive end-to-end cost optimization. Ensure suppliers perform to contracted obligations and stakeholder expectations. Identify root causes of non-compliance and drive to efficient resolution.
Procurement Operations. Improve and align the requisition, ordering, receipt, and payment processes to reduce cycle time and transactions cost. Manage system data integrity through appropriate internal controls such as vendor masters, material masters, and catalogs. Ensure compliance with Company and government regulations and standards.
Reporting & Intelligence. Provide regular intelligence to stakeholders regarding the Company’s evolving spend profile, savings results, and risk mitigation activities. Leverage interactions with external marketplace to provide insight to stakeholders regarding pricing, vendor, and technology trends.
