The Company

Ares Management (“Ares”) is one of the world’s largest investment managers operating in the credit, private equity, and real estate markets. Its Private Equity group has ~$30 billion of assets under management, targeting market-leading businesses that demonstrate attractive long-term growth opportunities across a diverse mix of industries.

Approximately 25% of Ares private equity capital is committed to the healthcare industry, with a focus on multi-site physician services. To further expand its healthcare services portfolio, Ares is investing in the cardiovascular space and is standing up a new company, US Heart and Vascular, that will serve as the national platform for operating its acquired cardiovascular practices. The group has one acquisition closed and another pending under LOI.

The Role

Ares is now seeking a Chief Financial Officer for US Heart and Vascular to build and lead the finance infrastructure for the new company. The new CFO will report into the Executive Chairman of the US Heart & Vascular platform. The headquarters of the new company is still to be determined and will be selected by the Board in the coming months.

Experience & Requirements

• 15+ years of professional tenure, with 5+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, in relevant healthcare environments with a facility billing component. Private equity experience, with significant exposure to Board and investors is highly valued.
• Expert financial, quantitative, and analytical skills, with formal training in accounting and finance; knowledge of FP&A, accounting (GAAP), and treasury processes and management of external vendors and banking relationships.
• Experience leading enterprise budgeting & forecast processes for both functional and business entities.
• Experience leading multi-site, multi-geography teams (directly or indirectly) of 25 or more, with associated experience recruiting and retaining top talent, both at site and corporate levels.
• Experience executing M&A transactions from start to finish, including valuation and financial modeling. Able to work effectively with external partner/experts to appropriately structure complex transactions.
• Knowledgeable and experienced in both facility and professional billing processes in the healthcare services industry.
• Manages change through influence; capable of driving buy-in and change across a diverse set of internal stakeholders; collaborative and team-oriented.
• Polished executive presence and communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with executive audiences and Board.
• A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual that is tolerant of ambiguity. Able to motivate him/herself and others in a fast-paced, private-equity sponsored environment.
