approximately 20,000 miles of distribution and transmission assets in

headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

environment, including top ranking by J.D. Power in 2021 for customer
satisfaction in the south region—marking nine consecutive times in the
residential gas utility study and five times in the business gas utility
study.

The Role

Peoples Gas seeks to hire a Director, Center of Excellence (COE)
Project, Business Governance, and Process to provide leadership
and direction to the strategic planning, supply chain, project and
capital governance, and business analytics functions. The role
reports directly to the Vice President, Strategic Growth,
Engineering, & Construction, leads a team of 10+, and is based in
Tampa, Florida.

This role supports and enables the Strategic Growth, Engineering, &
Construction function by providing leadership for strategic
planning, revenue planning, capital and operations/maintenance
planning, project and capital program policies and governance,
capital project procurement and materials management, business
intelligence and analytics, and continuous improvement programs.

The Director is responsible for the overall improvement of Strategic
Growth, Engineering, & Construction processes and procedures, to
eliminate bottlenecks and streamline performance across the
function, to optimize and increase speed of delivery. The Director
will identify, scope, and implement processes and systems-based
solutions that support functional improvements. By standardizing
best practices across the function, the COE team is expected to
enable uniformity of internal and external service and natural gas
product delivery, along with tight, end-to-end customer
experiences.

Experience & Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in planning, project governance, supply
chain, and business analytics, preferably in the pipeline, gas
transmission, oil & gas, or other capital intensive industries.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience.
• Strong business acumen; able to assess financial implications of
decisions and actions; able to understand how strategies and
tactics work in the market.
• Solid understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost
control rules and guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of supply chain principles (i.e. sourcing,
procurement, contracting, logistics and lead time, inventory
levels, materials management, etc.)
• Experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives, including broad
programs requiring change management via a systematic
approach / governance process.
Mastery of PMBOK (or similar) methodology, processes, and
tools for managing project timelines, resources, and enterprise
communications, inclusive of project charters and strategies,
project timelines, resource management, deliverables and
results, financial budgets and impacts, risk management and
issue resolution, enterprise communications accountability and
governance, metrics and KPIs, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to influence people and thought processes without direct
authority.
• Expert financial, quantitative, and analytical skills; able to
baseline and track operational KPIs.
• Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced
environment.
• Experience applying Lean concepts to reduce cost and improve
productivity with a demonstrated track record of driving
positive change.
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and
presentation skills, comfortable and credible with both internal
and external audiences.
• A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual;
able to motivate him/herself and others; a natural bias for action
and ability to deal with ambiguity.
