In 2012, the Clinic was the first medical organization in the United States accredited as an “Accountable Care Organization” by the prestigious National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Kelsey-Seybold also owns and operates “Kelsey-Care Advantage,” a Medicare Advantage plan which has received the coveted 5-star quality designation by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

In addition to operating Texas’ largest ambulatory surgery center, the Clinic operates multi-specialty care centers, onsite Kelsey pharmacies, a cancer center, a women’s health center, and a specialized sleep center with more than 30 locations in the Greater Houston area.

The Role

Kelsey-Seybold has a reputation for providing innovative care delivery models, partnering with major insurers to offer value-based commercial health plans and having been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as the nation’s first accredited Accountable Care Organization. Kelsey-Seybold is now seeking to innovate and grow its pharmacy services.

Kelsey-Seybold is seeking to hire a new Director, Consumer Pharmacy Services to provide oversight for the performance and development of all pharmacy services which directly interface with patients. The scope of these services includes management of its 19 retail pharmacy locations, with plans to add another 10 locations by end of 2023. Additionally, the new leader will manage the buildout of a new centralized fulfillment center, and Meds2Chair, Meds2Home, and Meds2Beds services. Pharmacy services considered in-scope also include clinical pharmacy initiatives not limited to bedside delivery service, medication adherence, medication synchronization, therapeutic interchanges, over the counter drugs, wearables, and potentially DME. The new leader will manage a total team of ~100 FTEs with ~$80M annual drug spend today that will continue to grow over the next 18-24 months. The Director will report into the Senior Director of Pharmacy Services and will ideally be based in Houston, TX.

Experience & Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive management in retail, ambulatory, and/or clinical setting. Ideal candidates will have an active Pharmacist license in the state of Texas or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Strong knowledge of current trends in the pharmacy area with ability to assess and identify opportunity to leverage pharmacy expertise to improve quality, safety, patient experience, and financial performance.
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of DEA regulatory standards and participation in AAAHC or TDH surveys. Ideal candidates will also have advanced understanding of Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
• Project management capabilities: track record of successfully managing multiple complex initiatives and work streams in parallel and delivering results against time sensitive deadlines.
• Understanding of high-level workings of PBMs, pharmacy fulfillment models, ACOs, Epic, and EnterpriseRx.
• Knowledgeable of the principles of quality management and experienced in leading Performance Improvement teams.
• Excellent financial, quantitative, and analytical skills; experience with business and operations performance reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to attract and retain top talent.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain internal relationships; able to drive alignment.
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
• A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others.
