The Role

As a result of continued company growth, PPG is now seeking to hire a General Manager, West to take full P&L responsibility for the ~$230m Western zone, including field sales, retail stores, personnel, and inventory, ensuring sales and profit objectives for the zone are achieved. The GM will lead a team of ~450 employees (direct and indirect), including a field sales organization selling PPG products into big box and independent retailers. The role will also be accountable for PPG’s 50+ retail locations in California, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

Experience & Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience in relevant commercial and operational leadership roles in an adjacent industry (wholesale, consumer, etc.)
• Superior customer orientation with a clear ability to translate customer needs into short-term and long-range operating plans
• Able to achieve or exceed performance results through effective team and individual performance, setting clear goals and accountability, strong growth orientation
• Able to work up, down, and across field-based organizations; connects well at all levels, i.e., field, management, executives.
• Significant experience forecasting budgets and leading monthly, quarterly, and/or annual business planning processes.
• Demonstrated business acumen, strategic thinking, and an ability to execute against formulated strategy.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large scale change initiatives.
• A natural mentor and recognized thought leader; demonstrated ability to develop top talent.
• A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others; a natural bias for action and ability to deal with ambiguity
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences
