The Company

Ultra Maritime is a market-leading mission systems and application engineering solutions provider servicing naval fleets across the US, UK and allied navies worldwide, manufacturing sonar, sonobuoy, naval, sensor, and power systems. In late 2022, Ultra Maritime’s parent company Ultra Electronics was acquired by the global private equity firm Advent International. Under Advent’s ownership, Ultra Maritime will be managed as a stand-alone company and immediately re-positioned for growth. Headquartered in Braintree, Massachusetts, Ultra Maritime operates 15 global manufacturing locations and generates annual revenue of ~$500m.

The Role

The Global Commodity Leader role is a critical initial hire as Ultra Maritime builds out their commodity management organization. This is a strategic role empowered to establish and negotiate corporate-level contracts for cross-business unit commodities and suppliers. This individual will also maintain expertise on market dynamics and commodity value chains, identify and drive opportunities to reduce overall cost to the company by employing a sophisticated procurement skill set, and collaborate with global business unit supply chain leadership to drive savings.

Experience & Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry, with 5+ years of direct materials procurement experience. Expertise with precision engineered parts, machined parts, fabrications/assemblies, and metals is required.
• Proven record of delivering significant year over year savings through a variety of levers including supplier consolidation, supplier collaboration/partnership, offshoring, in/outsourcing, should cost analysis, and execution of strategic negotiations.
• Experience partnering with cross-functional and cross-business unit teams to drive savings.
• Experience increasing the maturity of internal procurement processes and developing junior staff.
• Strong communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences
• A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others; a natural bias for action.
• Able to travel ~25%
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• US Citizenship required; US Secret or higher security clearance preferred.
