The Role
RSS is seeking its first Head of Procurement to standardize procurement practices and begin structuring a professionalized sourcing function. This leader will be responsible for centralizing the function across companies and locations, rationalizing the supplier base, and implementing processes and controls to leverage cost savings from spend volume. The role reports to the COO and can be based remotely with the expectation of regular business travel.
Experience & Requirements
• Build-out, Transformation & Change Management. Provide leadership and change management to build out a new procurement organization from the ground up in a high-growth, highly decentralized environment. Sell the vision and the value of procurement throughout the company and gain buy-in from internal partners. Influence relationships with vendor partners to drive mutually beneficial outcomes. Deliver and track results, including cost savings and improvements to service and quality.
• Functional Leadership. Provide overall leadership to the strategic sourcing, procurement, and partner management functions, including: strategy development and implementation; operating plans and budgets; policies, procedures, metrics, and systems; recruiting and team development; and communications with executive leadership. Work with internal business partners to create and drive standardization and simplification initiatives that improve service, costs, and provides a competitive advantage.
• Strategic Sourcing. Execute sourcing projects identified in category plans. Apply contemporary sourcing methods to deliver total cost value creation and supply assurance. Lead negotiations and contract development. Provide coaching and leadership in situations requiring incremental stakeholder and/or change management. Develop comprehensive implementation plans involving all relevant stakeholders. Quantify and document sourcing project results.
• Contract and Supplier Management. Drive strategic sourcing projects into practical contracting strategies consistent with business objectives and negotiated outcomes. Leverage incentives, e.g., long term agreements and partnerships, where appropriate. Address business unit, market-level, and supplier risks with well-defined terms, conditions, contingencies, and other remedies.
• Procurement Operations. Develop accurate, efficient, and user-friendly procurement procedures and systems. Oversee procurement activities to ensure material availability and maintain adequate inventory levels. Ensure timely placement of quote requests, purchase orders and invoice error resolution.
