Sundyne designs and manufactures highly engineered pumps and compressors for a range of mission critical applications. The company focuses on harsh operating environments where the consequences of failure are severe and where reliability, uptime and durability are paramount. Sundyne serves a diverse range of industries, including LNG and petrochemical markets (~50% of new unit orders), along with a rapidly growing presence in chemical and industrial sectors (~20% of new unit orders), and strong momentum in renewable energy, gas processing, and refining. Today, Sundyne has approximately $350 million in annual revenue, employs over 700 people globally, and is headquartered in Arvada, CO, outside of Denver.

The Role

Given company growth objectives, Sundyne is seeking a new VP of Aftermarket Sales to take responsibility for the short-term and long-term results and strategy of the aftermarket business. The VP will be chartered with driving aftermarket parts and services sales from $170m in revenue today to $250m by 2025, working closely with the C-Suite and business unit leaders.
Sundyne facilitates its go to market strategy by using third party channel partners, including both distributors and area service centers across its three regions (Americas, EMEIA, and Asia). Today, these channel partners are managed by Regional Sales Managers (RSM) and Area Sales Managers (ASM).
The new VP of Aftermarket Sales will work directly with the RSM and ASM teams to coordinate aftermarket sales activities to drive strategic growth initiatives and programs. In addition, this role will partner with all Sundyne Business Unit (BU) service teams to deliver quality customer service and solutions, including both sales applications and field/customer service teams. The VP will lead a team of 3 direct reports and work through the matrixed BU functional organization to drive results. This is a senior level leadership role reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer with exposure to the rest of the C-Suite, Board of Directors and investors. The VP may be based near any major international airport in North America or Europe.

Experience & Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in aftermarket commercial leadership roles in relevant highly engineered equipment manufacturing environments. Private equity experience a plus.
• Expertise developing and implementing successful aftermarket and engineered solution sales; flow control technology experience is preferred
• Experience developing sales strategies, segmenting customers,
and positioning products and services
• Proven expertise and track record in senior sales leadership roles and the ability to set, track and meet targets for a global commercial team
• Experience managing distribution and service partners with a robust opportunity tracking and pursuit process to realize potential for managed install base
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a geographically
dispersed sales team within a matrixed organization
• Strong leadership skills and proven judgment of talent, with an
emphasis on hiring and developing high performing teams
• Business acumen and financial skills, with the ability to analyze
and effectively interpret financial, sales, marketing, customer
and pro forma information for effective decision making
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead by influence; collaborative and team-oriented
• A track record of success conceptualizing, developing, and bringing to market innovative solutions to drive sales and entries into new markets.
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
• A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others; a natural bias for action and ability to deal with ambiguity; ability to work in a fast-paced, private-equity sponsored environment.
• Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference for Engineering, Chemistry or related technical field. MBA preferred.
• Ability to travel ~50% (domestic and international)
