VP, Procurement

American Trailer World (ATW)Dallas, Texas | March 17, 2022

The Company

American Trailer World (ATW) is a diversified manufacturer and leading retailer and distributor of professional and consumer-grade trailers, truck equipment, parts, and accessories in North America. ATW formed in January 2016 when American Trailer Works was merged with Big Tex Trailers through a deal led by Bain Capital, one of the world’s largest private equity investors. The combined company created a stand-out market leader which owned ~30% of the manufacturing and retail assets in North America in an otherwise fragmented industry. Today, ATW has grown to ~$1.8 billion in revenue, 5,000 employees, 23 manufacturing plants, and is headquartered in Addison, TX.

The Role

With the support and sponsorship of Bain Capital, ATW has launched a center-led procurement organization to improve financial performance, increase supply chain efficiency, and drive competitive advantage for retailers and customers. The company is now seeking a Vice President, Procurement, reporting to the SVP of Operations with responsibility for the function, including all direct and indirect spend.
ATW has about $1.3 billion in addressable spend. Categories include steel, parts, electrical components and tires. Many of ATW’s categories have tight supply markets and Asia-based sources and require a strategic approach to achieve optimal total cost of ownership. Additionally, the leadership believes that there are opportunities for design and engineering changes that could drive significant cost savings, manufacturing efficiency, or both.
