The company has grown to ~$2 billion in revenue through acquisitions and expansion of both the manufacturing footprint and product lines.
The Role
As Shearer’s invests in their talent to further enable profitability, innovation, customer satisfaction, end-to-end cost optimization, and future growth, they are looking to hire a Vice President of Quality. This leader will institutionalize industry leading food safety and quality programs across the supply chain network and ensure that all products meet customer requirements and regulatory compliance. The VP of Quality will report to the Chief Supply Chain Officer and ideally be based in Massillon, Ohio, though remote is an option for the right candidate. Frequent travel to Shearer’s plants, suppliers, and customers is expected.
Experience & Requirements
• Functional Leadership. Experience leading multiple FSQA functions simultaneously, including product quality, product safety, and regulatory compliance. Build and maintain necessary processes and operating policies to ensure full compliance with local, national, and global regulatory food production requirements including FDA.
• Food Safety & Quality Assurance. Comprehensive knowledge of Food Safety (HACCP principals, GMPs, SOPs and SSOPs) and associated standards that include risk management, product testing, capability studies and control plans. Experience leading enterprise-wide Total Quality Systems. Expertise in processes, specifications, and critical control points in manufacturing for on-going quality assurance using SPC, CTQ, etc. Experience with GFSI/SQF.
• Audits & Reporting. Document control & internal audits. Lead the management of third-party audits related to food safety and quality. Experience successfully overseeing inspections by the FDA as well as state authorities (e.g., the NSF, UL, USP, and OU Kosher). Experience leading risk identification and mitigation, incident investigation, and root cause analyses.
• Regulatory. Expert knowledge of related EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations. Experience in record keeping, permitting, reporting and notifications, related regulatory and compliance activities, and monitoring of the regulatory environment.
• Customer service. Manage all aspects of food safety/quality customer complaints; reporting including trends, monthly reviews, CAPA reports, etc.
• Team Leadership. Foster a high-performance culture, focusing on talent development, recruitment, and retention. Engaging, “boots on the ground” mentality to build relationships and gain buy-in with plant and corporate stakeholders.
