The Role

ORBCOMM, with its stated growth targets, is executing key strategies across enhancing operations, accelerating innovation, entering new markets, and a continued focus on customer success. In support of the broad strategic plan, the leadership team seeks to hire a new Vice President, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement to build and own the function for the company. As the organization has reached scale, and continues to navigate the complexities around global supply, continuity of supply and maintaining key vendor relationships is critical. The VP will report to the SVP, Engineering & Manufacturing and will work cross-functionally to establish and institutionalize this critical function.

Experience & Requirements

A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in sourcing & procurement functions, including leadership in a relevant environment, i.e. consumer electronics and electrical component organizations and/or known “academy” manufacturing environments that have invested in modern, high-performing procurement functions.
• Demonstrated ability to work with suppliers and internal constituencies to develop solutions that reduce costs while maintaining quality and service.
• Experience designing and executing a robust, cross-functional, strategic plan for supply chain, aligning operations and initiatives with Company goals and growth objectives.
• Expert knowledge of systems and processes that support inventory forecasting, planning, purchasing, and material control; ability to measure and drive performance in service levels and working capital
• Strong project management skills, including stakeholder, timeline, and meeting management skills; demonstrated excellence in managing internal customers. Experience applying Continuous Improvement, Lean, and Six Sigma principals to drive improvement
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences
• A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others; a natural bias for action and ability to deal with ambiguity
