The Role
Tri Scapes is seeking a hands-on, growth-oriented Controller to support the company through its next phase of expansion. This individual will lead all aspects of the accounting function, including monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and audit readiness. The Controller will play a critical role in strengthening internal controls, standardizing processes, and building scalable infrastructure to support the company’s goal of doubling in size. As a key member of the leadership team, the Controller will serve as a strategic partner to the CFO and business unit leaders, helping to drive performance visibility, support M&A activity, and ensure the integrity of financial operations as Tri Scapes continues to grow under Hidden Harbor’s ownership.
Experience & Requirements
• 10+ years in accounting leadership; experience in PE-backed environments and high-growth companies preferred; strong knowledge on construction business accounting (Percentage of completion method).
• Solid understanding of accounting, budgeting, and cost control rules and guidelines (e.g., Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Expert financial, quantitative, and analytical skills, with formal training in accounting and finance; willing and able to engage and develop employees.
• Experience with job costing and percentage of completion accounting.
• Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking knowledge.
• Experience supporting Capital and/or M&A investment decisions, at the site or enterprise level.
• Strong technical skillset using Excel for modeling and implementation into ERP.
• Ability to coach and develop a team in an environment with an evolving structure, processes, and IT tools.
• Displays a high level of initiative; invites, challenges, and explores new ideas while understanding and communicating risks.
• Naturally inclusive and collaborative across a full range of internal stakeholders; leads cross-functionally by influence.
• Nimble and entrepreneurial in nature; makes decisions with imperfect information; wired for a fast-paced, high-change, private-equity sponsored environment.
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
• Active CPA preferred but not required.
