The Role
To support continued growth, Marcone is seeking a Vice President to take
operational responsibility for their HVAC division. The VP, Operations will
help shape and own execution of the division’s strategic plan. An
immediate area of focus will be to lead a network strategy assessment and
footprint rationalization with the goal of enhancing customer service,
operational efficiency, and readiness to scale the business further.
Another key focus area will be evolving the business to be more
technology-centric. The role reports to the President, HVAC and ideally
will be based in either St. Louis, MO, Chicago, IL or Boston, MA.
Experience & Requirements
• 20+ years of experience leading multi-site distribution operations and/or
multi-site durable goods OEM or aftermarket parts operations.
• Strategic thinker and problem solver with the ability to align operational
activities with overall business objectives.
• Superior customer orientation with a clear ability to translate customer
needs into short-term and long-range operating plans.
• Experience creating and implementing business operating systems
within a high-change, under-resourced, and/or unsophisticated
environment (e.g., M&A, rapid growth, turnaround, etc.).
• Experience standardizing performance within acquired businesses,
operations, and locations.
• Expert financial & analytical skills; embraces fact?based decision making;
naturally seeks to leverage and / or integrate customer / vendor data,
project results, incorporate feedback loops, and develop scenario
analyses.
• Experience standing-up DCs, integrating operations and systems, and
optimizing geographic footprints in high-growth environments.
• Successful development and implementation of key KPIs to control
operational aspects of the business (e.g. productivity, safety, customer
service, quality, inventory optimization, profit margins, scheduling).
• Able to achieve or exceed performance results through effective team
and individual performance, setting clear goals and managing
accountability; strong growth orientation.
• Strong negotiation skills and a track record of achieving cost savings and
value optimization.
• Ability to manage high SKU-count inventory across a network of
distribution centers.
• Experience managing talent & resources in large, complex organizations.
• Experience and training in continuous improvement systems and
principles; LEAN, TPS, Six Sigma etc.
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and
presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal
stakeholders, customers, and external audiences.
• Strong orientation to leadership, teamwork, and positive
communication; a flexible, dynamic, self?demanding and proactive
individual, able to motivate him/herself and others; a natural bias for
action and ability to deal with ambiguity; a roll-up-your-sleeves leader.
