The Role
The VP, Regulatory Affairs is responsible for the regulatory affairs function for e.l.f. globally, assuring regulatory compliance for e.l.f.’s product categories – cosmetics and skin-care products, OTC cosmetics (acne and sunscreen products), a medical device,and beauty tools/implements. The VP, Regulatory Affairs will implement and maintain a regulatory discipline within e.l.f.’s business, build and sustain relationships with key vendors/partners, and help mitigate risks as they relate to regulations. To support e.l.f.’s expansion into international markets, which currently account for approximately 13% of the business, the VP, Regulatory Affairs will develop and execute the registration and ongoing compliance strategy for key international markets, which at this time include Canada, EU, UK, India & Australia. This position will be supported by the Regulatory group comprising of six Regulatory professionals. The position will be responsible for guiding the group on business objectives, growing their regulatory capabilities, and related personnel responsibilities. The VP, Regulatory Affairs will ideally be based near San Francisco or New York City.
e.l.f. has a fast-to-market business model, with the ability to bring products to market in as few as 13 weeks and approximately 20 weeks on average. The VP, Regulatory Affairs will need to excel in this dynamic environment, including through thoughtful, succinct and timely decision-making.
Experience & Requirements
– 10+ years of relevant experience in an FDA regulated environment, preferably cosmetics, beauty or a consumer products business that has portable knowledge/experience sets.
– Keen understanding of U.S. and international cosmetic, OTC drug and cosmetics/tools regulations.
– Working understanding – with ability to identify and utilize specialists as needed – of international regulations pertaining to cosmetics, skin-care and beauty tools/implements. The key international markets for e.l.f. at present are Canada, EU, UK, India& Australia with need to take on new country expansion.
– Initiative in innovative approaches to regulatory solutions and applications in a fast- paced business environment.
– Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
– Ability to organize thoughts on regulatory risks and make clear recommendations.
– A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others; a natural bias for action and ability to deal with ambiguity.
– Project management skills to drive multi-faceted regulatory projects to conclusion.
