Resource Environmental Solutions (RES) is the nation’s largest ecological restoration company, providing solutions
for environmental mitigation, stormwater, water quality, and climate and flooding resilience, utilizing an operating model designed to deliver ecological uplift. Over the last 15 years, RES has grown organically and through acquisition, expanding operations along the Gulf Coast, and into California, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. Headquartered in Bellaire, TX (Houston), RES generates over $300M in annual revenue and employs more than 900 people in offices across the US.

The Role

With the support of its investors, RES is seeking a new Vice President of Sales to build and institutionalize the commercial strategy and sales process for the organization and help to deliver bookings. RES’s sales organization is de-centralized, with resources reporting directly up through regional General Managers and Vice Presidents who own both sales and project delivery in their respective territories. The sales resources have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Vice President of Sales, who is responsible for driving process, discipline, and large project pursuits. The average sale can vary widely, from $500K to $20M+, and sales cycles can last anywhere from 30 days to 2-3 years. The VP, Sales leads a direct team of 10-15 employees and reports to the CEO.

Experience & Requirements

• At least 15 years of sales or broader commercial experience, with 5-10 years sales leadership experience in project-based, solutions selling B2B companies with geographically dispersed sales teams.
• Proven expertise and track record in senior sales leadership roles and the ability to set, track and meet targets for a distributed commercial team.
• Experience building, implementing, and leading strategic and operational sales processes (e.g., customer segmentation and sales analytics, organization structure design, sales process and value proposition development, sales force resourcing, training, and deployment, and KPIs metrics and dashboards).
• Business acumen and financial skills, with the ability to analyze and effectively interpret financial, sales, marketing, customer, and pro forma information to drive effective decision making.
• Strong leadership skills and proven judgement of talent, with an emphasis on hiring, developing, and retaining high performing technical sales teams; able to influence, lead, and coach a geographically dispersed sales/account management team within a complex organization.
• Manages change through influence; capable of driving major commercial decisions across a diverse set of internal stakeholders; collaborative and team oriented.
• Desire to join an organization driven by a unique and empowered culture guided by service-driven values and beliefs.
• Polished executive presence and communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with executive audiences.
• A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others; able to work in a fast-paced, private-equity sponsored environment.
